Getting the right amount of calories in your food

The food we eat every day is highly important in determining our health. Good nutrition comes from having a well balanced intake of fiber, carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals - and calories. Due to the high incidence of obesity among modern people these days, it is clear that we need to monitor our daily caloric intake, of which all of it comes from the food we eat. So how do we know how much calories per day is right?
There are several aspects taken into account to determine an optimal daily calorie requirement, such as your height, weight, sex, activity rate, and health history. Most projections are not accurate though, although it is quite fair to say that for most people with “average” statistics, 1800 to 2000 calories per day can be regarded as a rough benchmark.
