The Clark Shoe. British Footwear Fashions
The Clark Shoe brand has been around since the year dot, and it would be hard to find a British national who can remember the days before this popular and affordable range of shoes, boots, and sandals became a household name. They were even active in war time helping to put boots on the feet of British soldiers. Shopping for Clarks footwear was often the first choice for the majority of the working classes for a number of reasons. Firstly, from the 1960’s and up, most major towns and cities had a Clarks shoe shop. Secondly, the brand was renowned for comfortable, well made, and affordable footwear, and that made many Mums’ managing the family budgets very happy. There did become a downside to the name at some point though. The company became a little complacent and didn’t expect quite so much competition to hit the market. This competition offered more styles and designs and thus produced more glamorous and beautiful footwear than their old rival Clarks, who eventually became known for good quality, affordable, but with limited choices and dowdy fashions. But as those running the brand were gutsy and prepared to change their image, and therefore made an impressive comeback. The good news is that Clarks managed to retain their affordable and nationwide presence, while at the same time produce some very attractive and unique shoes, boots, and sandals, for all ages, and all genders from kids to grandparents.
