Creating Your Modern Kitchen area
If you are deciding about putting together a modern kitchen or giving your kitchen a rejuvenating remodel, it is essential to do your groundwork and have a reliable strategy in place before starting. The particular work your kitchen needs depends upon the current state of the different areas and appliances of your existing kitchen. Some kitchens could use help with the lighting or water fixtures while others could use an current and improved design.
Kitchen design generally falls into four distinct categories. The one wall kitchen space can be found in cramped apartments or houses while a corridor kitchen may be the best option for narrow areas with doors on either end. The L-shaped kitchen design is used when there is space for corner cabinets while a U-shaped kitchen is favoured in large areas where the room is broad. When deciding on a design, think about whether or not you would like to incorporate an island into the room as it can impact which design is most suitable for your new kitchen. A brand spanking new Bosch fridge could be the perfect to go with to a fresh kitchen.
When planning your kitchen, the first step should always be acquiring proportions and recording the dimensions of the room you will be working with. Take the dimensions of your floor-to-ceiling heights to decide the size of cabinets your space will accommodate. Measure your windows and doors including all distances from the edges of each door and window to the adjacent edges (floor, ceiling, doors, and windows). Be sure that that when you measure the distances between walls, that you allow for 600mm extra space from each end where you envision you might have a cabinet. Next, take the needed measurements to ensure that all vertical levels are even so that any set up you do during the process of construction or remodelling is aligned properly and you avoid having to make adjustments in the future. It is recommended that any difference in the levelling of your floors of more than 15mm should be fixed before installing cabinets. Next, take proportions of all outlets, pipes, mains and other inputs and their distances from surrounding edges and/or surfaces. These are the most problematic to change or move later on, so you need their measurements in order to build around them.
Lastly, pay particular attention to door installation. Take careful measurements of the centres between all hinge holes on your doors as well as the bottom of each door to the centre of the bottom hinge. Finally, take the measurements and configuration of the door itself and all of its hinges.
